How can you decrease toxins and start getting healthier now?
First of all the most important thing to do is stop putting toxins in your body voluntarily. What I mean by this is that the choices you make on a daily basis will either increase or decrease your toxic load. Choose to limit your exposure in as many ways as you can.
Rest assured we will talk about this a lot in articles on this blog in the future. For now, I would like to address some simple areas where you can easily reduce your toxic load by making a few choices.
THE FOOD WE EAT
Always eat organic (and biodynamic) foods where possible.
Do not use packaged or processed foods that have been chemically treated to extend shelf life.
Take the time to read what is actually in the products you are buying – most processed foods have high levels of sugar and salt – and a pile of additives.
THE WATER WE DRINK
Always use filtered water. Tap water is laden with chemicals. If you do not have a water filter please get one.
WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR BODY
Eliminate chemicals in products that you put onto your body. Read labels – and learn what they mean. Just because it says natural means nothing. If it has letters and numbers it is not natural. In our daily lives we all use hygiene products that have real natural and chemical free replacements.
For example toothpaste and mouthwash: natural choices would be baking soda as toothpaste or a naturally made toothpaste with no fluoride or added chemicals and diluted hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash. Body Lotion: Coconut Oil feels and smells great and it a moisturiser as well as antibacterial.
OUR HOME AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Stop using chemical cleaning products.
- With cleaning products use vinegar or hydrogen peroxide instead of harsh chemicals and bleach. In reality microfiber cloths and diluted vinegar will clean most things.
- Air Fresheners: Essential oil room sprays are fabulous!
- Pesticides: sprinkle boric acid in the backs of your cupboards for roaches.
- Herbicides: garlic and hot pepper spray for garden pests.
